magnesite veins from ultramafic massif of beni bousera (internal rif, morocco)

چکیده

the magnesite veins are located in the beni bousera massif (internal rif, morocco), especially in tafidest region about 103 km sw of the tetouan city. they are hosted by perridotite and serpentinite formations.  the aim of this study is to clarify the origin of this type of orre genesis. geochimical study of magnesite ore reveals that is a cryptocrystalline magnesite, formed by the co2-rich hydrothermal fluids filling factures. these solutions were brought from serpentinized area following tectonic fractures. the magnesite precipitation is due to the decrease of partial pressure of supersaturated carbon dioxide hydrothermal fluids, most likely at temperature below 300 ºc.

Graphite–sulfide deposits in Ronda and Beni Bousera peridotites (Spain and Morocco) and the origin of carbon in mantle-derived rocks

This paper describes unusual graphite–sulfide deposits in ultramafic rocks from the Serranı́a de Ronda (Spain) and Beni Bousera (Morocco). These deposits occur as veins, stockworks and irregular masses, ranging in size from some centimeters to a few meters in thickness. The primary mineral assemblage mainly consists of Fe–Ni–Cu sulfides (pyrrhotite, pentlandite, chalcopyrite and cubanite), graph...

Demonstration of alpine structural phenomena at the structure of magnesite Deposit Jelšava - Dúbrava massif

Magnesite deposits in the Central Western Carpathians belong among the biggest deposits in the Europe. Their today’s structure is mainly the result of the Alpine orogenesis. During this period several deformation stages were active, which deformed the deposit body. This resulted in today’s complicated structure of the deposit. The genesis of deposit is still ambiguous; however, the importance o...

Seismic tomography from local crustal earthquakes beneath eastern Rif Mountains of Morocco

We applied a tomographic method to image an aseismic strike–slip fault in North Morocco and found that the occurrence of earthquakes is not only controlled by the state of tectonic stress but also by material heterogeneity in the crust. We have constructed an integrated model of seismic, electric, magnetic and heat flow properties across northeastern Morocco primarily based on a tomography inve...

A new species of the genus Hydroporus Clairville, 1806 from the Central Rif mountains of northern Morocco (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae).

Hydroporus rifensis sp. n. is described from Central Rif in northern Morocco. The new species is the first member of the Hydroporus tristis-group to be recorded from the African continent. Analyses of cytochrome oxydase 1 (CO1) and 16S rRNA partial sequences indicate unambiguously that H. rifensis sp. n. is a geographical vicariant of the widespread and common European species Hydroporus gyllen...
